Add a Bangla keyboard on iPhone or iPad
- Install Obadh from the App Store and open it. The app walks you through setup.
- In Settings › General › Keyboard › Keyboards › Add New Keyboard, choose Obadh.
- Open Obadh in the keyboard list. Allow Full Access is optional for typing; it enables shared settings, learned words, sounds and haptics. See what the permission changes.
- Open an app with a text field, hold the globe key and select Obadh. Start typing in Roman letters.
Bangla typing with Roman letters
Type ami banglay likhchi to write আমি বাংলায় লিখছি. Obadh converts what you spell into Bangla (Bengali) script. It does not translate an English sentence into Bengali.
The phonetic typing guide shows the key combinations for letters, conjuncts and punctuation. If you have used Avro, check the differences before switching.
A keyboard for Apple devices, made by Unmukto
Obadh is an independent keyboard, not an Apple product. It works alongside the keyboards already on your iPhone or iPad, so you can switch languages with the globe key.
You can use it in Messages, Notes, email and other apps that allow third-party keyboards. iOS uses the system keyboard in secure password fields, and individual apps can disallow keyboard extensions.
Corrections, privacy and Full Access
Suggested corrections sit beside what you typed. Auto-insert is off by default. An exact English loanword match is the exception: pressing Space writes its Bangla spelling, while the literal spelling remains available in the suggestion strip.
Basic typing, corrections and suggestions work without Full Access. Enable it for shared app settings, learned words, sounds and haptics. Granting the permission does not make Obadh send your typing anywhere; the privacy page explains what is stored locally.
There are no ads, subscriptions or accounts. If you are deciding which keyboard suits you, start with how to choose a Bangla keyboard.
